Philip has a litigation practice with a particular focus on Industrial Relations and Employment law, and Administrative law. Having been called to the Bar in 2024, after admission to the legal profession in 2018, Philip has commenced his readership at 35 West Chambers and is eager to broaden his litigation practice.

Prior to commencing at the Bar, Philip was an Associate at IRiQ Law, a boutique Industrial Relations and Employment law firm, where he advised and acted for private Employer and Employee clients in relation to enterprise bargaining, employment contracts, workplace disputes and termination matters.

Philip previously worked as an Industrial Officer at Together Queensland, advocating for Queensland State public sector Employees in relation to workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, and workers’ entitlements including conditions of employment and workers’ compensation.

Philip previously worked as a Private Sessions Officer at the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission). There, he assisted the Disability Royal Commission in gathering evidence of Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of people with disability in a forensic and trauma-informed manner.

Philip has also previously held the role of Associate to a Commissioner at the Fair Work Commission, and Associate to a Deputy President at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. In these roles, he developed extensive experience of the processes for hearing and determination of matters before statutory decision-making bodies.

Outside of his practice, Philip sings folk music and sea shanties, and he teaches himself to play musical instruments, particularly the guitar, mandolin and pianoaccordion. He also has passion for languages. He confidently negotiates complex tapas purchases in Spanish, and occasionally attempts (with varying success) to converse in basic French, German and Russian.
